Funny Music Videos

Michael Kwan
Al Yankovic

While it may not be completely true that video killed the radio star, the music video has become a very important part of the industry. And just as there are several genres of movies and TV shows, the same can be said about music videos. Some may be dramatic, others can be romantic, and then there are those designed to elicit laughter. This list contains some of the funniest official music videos around.

Tacky by "Weird Al" Yankovic

Specializing in parody and comedy, "Weird Al" Yankovic leveraged social media and online buzz with the promotion of his Mandatory Fun album by releasing a new music video every day for ten straight days. The first of these was Tacky, a parody of Happy by Pharell. The music video is mostly one continuous shot with outrageous clothing, fun dancing, and lots of celebrity cameos.

Gangnam Style by PSY

Gangnam Style put Korean singer PSY on the international map with its hilariously random music video and equally strange signature dance. Originally released in the summer of 2012, Gangnam Style became the first YouTube video to hit two billion views in May 2014.

Space Unicorn by Parry Gripp and Brianne Drouhard

Borrowing some inspiration from classic and contemporary cartoons, Space Unicorn is an animated music video that depicts the titular unicorn flying through space, "delivering the rainbows all around the world." The upbeat song will put a smile on anyone's face.

Weapon of Choice by Fatboy Slim

Fatboy Slim is already known for producing some pretty funny songs, but the dance moves of Christopher Walken really put this music video over the top. It was so good, in fact, that Weapon of Choice won six awards at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2001.

Fight For Your Right by The Beastie Boys

This music video starts with some nerds being told by their parents not to throw a party or make a mess, but mayhem ensues as increasingly colorful characters come through the door. There are many, many pies to the face.

Tribute by Tenacious D

Tenacious D, a rock band made up of comedians Jack Black and Kyle Glass, leans toward comedy. With Tribute, the duo faces off against a glowing devil played by Dave Grohl, while recording the song in a tiny studio in a shopping mall.

The Bad Touch by The Bloodhound Gang

The entire group is dressed up in monkey suits with giant ears for this music video, singing about how they want to "do it like they do on the Discovery Channel." Capturing Parisians in a cage on the street adds to the oddly fun nature of this video.

Stand Up by Ludacris

Ludacris and his friends stylishly walk in rhythm past the line into the popular club. The music video to this popular rap track features many outrageous visuals, including oversized headphones for the DJ, a midget hanging from a necklace, and a dancing baby Ludacris in a diaper.

Walk by Foo Fighters

In this video, Foo Fighters' frontman Dave Grohl plays the protagonist, a disgruntled white collar worker who has finally had too much. He breaks down after being hit with a never-ending onslaught of annoying experiences. He even drives into a water hazard with a golf cart.

White & Nerdy by "Weird Al" Yankovic

"Weird Al" Yankovic is so fantastic at the art of creating funny songs and hilarious music videos that he is being featured twice on this list. White & Nerdy parodies Ridin' Dirty by Chamillionaire, poking fun at the suburban white male. The video features a cameo from comedic duo Key and Peele as inner city gangsters.

All Kinds of Funny Music Videos

Combining great songs with terrific comedy can result in some fantastically funny music videos. In the case of Internet sensations like PSY, they can even transcend music and become online memes. They're always worth watching for a good laugh.
