Also just look at their damn name... MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE. Their music is exactly that. Nothing more, nothing less. They do their own thing, & haven't veared from that in over a decade, that's pretty damn impressive! I just have to recite a little Jimmy in respect to that issue. Any other fans feel free to correct me if I misquote here... "What it's not 2009? Well it may be 2008 down there, it's ...ing 2009 already up here." LOL gotta love that.

LOL. Very LOL. MSI has been, & will always be the subculture of subculture. I highly doubt the author of this really listens to any of the mashed up genres that comprise MSI's great songs. The underlying message etc. etc. is NOT what MSI is about. They're not out to change the world with their songs, or be part of some movement. They're out to rock out, & do it any damn way they please. Sure some songs might seem like they're going somewhere or could have some DEEP underlying meaning, but that's only if you take MSI at face value. They're more about just having fun, & kicking ass. They've never been accepted by the mainstream & even some of the subcultural media is like WTF in regards to them, & THAT IS WHY THEY ARE AWESOME! As a goofy ass musician myself it's DAMN hard to mix & match genres anywhere close to as well as MSI does it, & therefore that comment the author made is null & void of any value. MSI doesn't take the cheap way out & just do different songs with different genres, they do different genres in almost every song, & that takes skill beyond what most bands have. Otherwise a lot more of them would be doing it, & doing it better than MSI. So far not a lot has changed since that whole 90's rock/rap thing. Meanwhile MSI continues to pound our ears with hard DnB drum rolls, wicked bass lines, & the amazing way each member keeps up with all of that insanity on their respective instruments.

I saw them play just last night, & between Jimmy's wacked out stand up comedy like antics between songs, & the incredible stage presence of the rest of the band, one has to be grateful for a band like them. They do what they want, how they want, & don't care if you think they're "...executed well" LOL whoever wrote this has NO CLUE what MSI is about. I have to admit it was kind of awkward last night since it was an all ages show & there were quite a few emo kids there. I was like WTF are these goobers doing here? Last I checked MSI had little to nothing to do with the whole emo scene. But hey, "You'll Rebel to anything." Muhahahaahhaa!

"This mix of neo-goth, techno, electronica, metal and emo is a seizure of activity that reveals only one thing – that no matter what genre these guys are going for, none of them is executed well"

to each his own. but honestly, 'executed well' is hardly specific--'well' in terms of what? that hectic sound is something some people happen to like, and although the author makes one valid point (in that sometimes its hard to grasp what the point of the song is - message, the noise, the overly-dramatic voice inflection or the image) MSIis still growing as a band. so far their sound is actually something very appealing to people. nor do i hear anyone claiming there has never been a band before or since to rival mindless self indulgence; yeah, emo, folk, and rap may fulfill the same purpose BUT they're completely different as well. not better or worse, but separate. rap makes me cringe; that doesn't make it bad, but i don't enjoy it at all. i speak for myself here when i say that maybe not every song you listen to needs to be politically or socially minded; is so horrible to enjoy listening to music because the rhythm makes you feel good?

if the person who wrote this article actually knew what she was talking about, she would have written a different article. they are HUGE and without the help of a major record label, radio, or MTV. That says something. They are huge because PEOPLE LIKE THEM. We like them because we know what they are, not because someone else told us they were cool.

Woah! Whoever wrote this page really sucks, if you don't like something than why bother writing a whole page. All those songs on their MySpace are pretty good songs by the band.
