-- Contributed by: AndersThanks for the article. This makes quite a bit more sense than the other articles I've been reading through. Most are pretty biased. I'm doing a research paper, so thanks for the site.

-- Contributed by: lolI am actually doing a research paper on this topic and this article has a lot of information. You seem to know what is happenning in youth, which is good. Because in many other articles the people sounded like they had no idea what they were talking about.
-- Contributed by: Breannayeah this all very true. morne harmse, for example let slitknot act as a catalyst. its ok to listen to them, but not when ur already depro and or real angry
-- Contributed by: herohe isnt hating on rock music you obviously didnt read the article
-- Contributed by: TashaNice comments, everyone. I'm with you - I don't think lyrics alone can cause a problem that isn't already there. You explained this really well, Ella.

The anger is what most of us like about metal, the concerts are the best places for it.
You can make articles and whine all you want, but your not going to change anything. If you try and stop teenagers from listening, your just supporting their beliefs, theres nothing you can do.
ALL HOPE IS GONE! xD
-- Contributed by: SethI agree with you, teens are affected by music. However, they are also affected by a cornucopia of other things such as parents, political figures, teachers, ect. To ban kids form listening to their choice music preference is just hypocritical. You can't ban everything that may affect teens in a negative way, music is only targetted because it's easier to control. Also, although teens are affected by their music, it doesn't mean it's in a negative way. Music is used as an emotional outlit for teens to vent feelings. As a "metalhead" into such bands as Cannibal Corpse, In Flames and Children of Bodom, I can truthfully say that while certain heavier bands use strong, darker lyrics, it is not meant as advice to embark in drastic evil plots. Dark, strong lyrics are simply used to evoke stronger emotions and appeal to the fan base of those genre types. If paents are concerned with their child's music tastes, instead of immediatley jumping to the conclusions that what they are listening to is demonic, although it may sound that way, try searching some of their lyrics. Many a time the lyrics are not as severe or harmfully meant as the music to accent it may seem. I've seen lots of occasions where heavier songs are actually inspiring and spiritually (not neccesarily religiously) fulfilling. So, while parents do have the right to be interested in their child's music taste, certain genres should not be immediatley dissmissed because they don't appeal to your particular taste. But hey, what the hell do I know? I'm just a sixteen year old kid. :)

-- Contributed by: yoi think that music in general has a very big effect on the society. no matter if its rap, rock, punk, or christian, there is always a portion of the population that gets effected by the lyrics of these songs.
-- Contributed by: jerricaI do not think that kids who listen to rock music are anymore prone to becoming criminals, or rapist than anyother person. Alot of it depends on their home life and if they were abused, or not socialy accepted. There are plenty of people who listen to rock music and are accepted and do well in school and don't get into any fights. Like I said before, most of it depends on thier home life.
-- Contributed by: UsedCorruptionHi Dark Knife Hatanaka - Hey, I agree with you about My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy - but, that's the tag most people give them (and in some cases, they have given themselves), so identifying them in the way that most people come looking for information about them helps readers find what they want to find. I'm on your side, but we have to let it stand.
I for one don't believe that if kids (like me) listen to rock bands that hey will be like criminals or some of that matter in the future. and another one... Can you please have a correction in this article. . . the Bands "My Chemical Romance" and "Fall Out Boy" are not "EMO BANDS" thank you. . .
