Twilight Soundtrack
From LoveToKnow Music
The Twilight soundtrack was one of the most successful releases in 2008. It debuted at number one on the Billboard Charts when it was released on November 4, 2008, and spent 20 weeks in the top ten, matching a record set by City of Angels for soundtrack top ten runs. It also topped music charts in New Zealand and Greece.
About The Twilight Soundtrack
The Twilight soundtrack was released by Chop Shop Records, a subsidiary of Atlantic Records. Chop Shop frequently works on soundtracks and has put together the albums from Roswell, Gossip Girl, Grey’s Anatomy, Boston Public, The O.C. and Chuck. Chop Shop Records founder Alexandra Patsavas was the music supervisor for Twilight, but the cast members and Stephanie Meyers, Twilight author, had a great deal of input into the soundtrack music selection.
Several different marketing promotions were used to sell the Twilight soundtrack, and there are many different versions of the soundtrack available. All the CDs came with one of four different Twilight posters. Some of the other marketing promotions included:
- All Hot Topic stores hosted listening parties for the album a week ahead of the release.
- Albums purchased at Borders came with an exclusive acoustic version of the Paramore song Decode.
- People who purchased their ticket for Twilight through Fandango received a special code to download an exclusive remix of the Carter Burwell song Bella’s Lullaby.
- The iTunes version of the album featured three exlusive tracks: Let Me Sign by Robert Pattinson, La Traviata performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Clare De Luna, a DeBussy composition performed the APM orchestra.
- Special edition deluxe DVD and CD release came with five additional tracks:
- Love it Worth The Fall – O.A.R.
- Decode (acoustic) – Paramore
- Flightless Bird, American Mouth (live) – Iron and Wine
- Spotlight (Sun Lux Remix) – Mute Math
- Full Moon (Applebaum Remix) – The Black Ghosts
The soundtrack to Twilight has been certified double platinum. There is also an album that features the score to the movie, though it has sold significantly fewer copies.
