The Big Chill soundtrack to the classic 1983 film doubles as a great introduction to the best of Motown and other 60s favorites. It is one of the biggest selling soundtracks of all time and has been certified six times platinum.
The Big Chill Soundtrack Songs
Although The Big Chill is set in the 1980s, the action revolves around a group of friends who attended college together in the 1960s. They have gathered for the funeral of another college friend who committed suicide. The music from their college years plays a central role in the film.
There are two Big Chill soundtracks – the original soundtrack and then a double disc release of additional songs from the film and the era. The track listing for the original release is:

The Big Chill Soundtrack Release Information
The original soundtrack was released on September 8, 1983 on Motown Records. The release with the additional music from the film came out the following year. Both versions of the soundtrack were remastered and reissued in 1998. In 2004, an additional reissue was released, this time on Hip-O Records. The only song to appear in the film that is not on any of the discs is Quicksilver Girl by the Steve Miller Band.
