Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack

From LoveToKnow Music

The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack lets listeners enjoy a unique film and music experience without a television or movie screen nearby.

The Movie

The 1975 film tells the story of a young couple, Brad and Janet, who seek shelter on a rainy night in an out-of-the-way castle. The inhabitants of the castle are Transylvanians, including the "sweet transvestite" Dr. Frank-N-Furter and his servants. Dr. Frank-N-Furter has created a Frankenstein-like creature named Rocky. Brad and Janet's crazy night in the castle is highlighted by sexual shenanigans, violence, and lots of singing and dancing. Starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, and Meatloaf, it's a parody of horror movies and an unabashed movie musical.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show Experience

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is more than a movie; it's a cult phenomenon. Taken at face value, many people would consider it a bad movie, with ridiculous costumes, unnecessary sexual innuendo, contrived situations, and over-the-top acting. However, for those who see the campy beauty of the film, it's not just a movie – it's an experience.

Late night showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show feature costumes, audience members acting out the movie in the theater's aisles, and heavy audience participation. At set times during the movie, viewers shoot water guns, throw toast at the screen, and loudly respond to the dialogue. And of course, they sing along to The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Say It!

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Say It! is a complete recording of the late-night showing experience. The album includes the movie's audio track, both dialogue and songs, with audience participation included. The recording is from an early 80s show, so it's not the most up-to-the-minute Rocky Horror Picture Show experience, but it can still give you a good idea of the kind of audience banter to expect.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Sing It!

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Sing It! is a karaoke version of the soundtrack album. It includes a similar track listing to the 25th anniversary release. In addition to providing entertaining karaoke tracks, this is a great way to brush up on the lyrics before heading out to a show.
