The PCD Music Lounge is a free online virtual nightclub where people from around the world meet to dance, listen to music and chat to their heart's content. The community features tons of different songs from a number of popular artists and includes fully customizable avatars and a lush 3D environment ripe for exploration.
About the Lounge
PCD Music Lounge is a project by Interscope Records and Doppelganger, a San Francisco-based company that focuses on creating customizable avatars and interactive environments. The Lounge incorporates music by the Pussycat Dolls (shown below in both real-life and Music Lounge form), hence the PCD in the name.
The whole point of the Music Lounge is to explore the night-time city while listening to a rotating list of popular music. You'll meet other loungers as you roam about and can stop to chat with anyone you like. When you're ready, head over to the hip four-level nightclub where the real fun begins. A DJ is almost always on-call playing great music. You can head to the dance floor and use one of the many pre-programmed dance moves and socialize with other dancers. There are small lounge areas, personal music listening booths, a set of three hot tubs, and plenty of nooks and crannies to explore.
Customization
PCD Music Lounge gives you a slew of customizable options to allow you to personalize your avatar and interact with others. A small menu appears if you move the mouse to the bottom of the screen, allowing you to set lounge options, adjust your wardrobe or call a window of emotes to choose from.
The wide range of emotions you can express add a lot of depth to the community and allow you to express ideas without typing a single word. You can laugh, cry, fake vomit, wave, snooze, sit, show anger, confusion or even flirt. Tucked away in the emote menu is also a list of dance commands perfect for unleashing on the dance floor. You can even do the robot!
You also have enormous flexibility in customizing the look of your avatar. Before you join the network you choose a gender, and once you're inside you can change hairstyles, eye color, face structure, height, shirts, pants, skirts, shoes, bracelets and much, much more. There are many different types and colors of clothing to wear, so don't be afraid to express yourself with a personalized look.
How to Install and Use
Setting up the PCD Music Lounge virtual community is remarkably easy. All you have to do is download the program, install it on your computer, then choose a username and password. Once it's activated simply run the Music Lounge program and it will automatically connect to the servers.

Content Warning
Although everything within the world of PCD Music Lounge is safe for all ages, remember that this is an online virtual community where anyone can say anything. The Lounge is in Beta status until mid-summer 2006, so until then it's a good bet that very few mods are around to monitor loungers. Even still, the community members I met were all very friendly and remarkably mature (despite their age). It's a great place to hang out, listen to music and just... chill.
