Myspace Music Video
From LoveToKnow Music
Myspace music videos have become very popular with teens and young adults. Not only can these be viewed for free, but they can also be embedded into one’s own Myspace profile page.
Free Myspace Music Video
Myspace.com has become the third most visited Web site in the world in only three years (trailing closely behind Yahoo! and Google). Because of the social networking site’s huge success, many artists are cashing in on the ready-made, young demographic. Not only are independent filmmakers using the site as a promotional tool and springboard, all sorts of music acts are finding new listeners there. One of the best promotional tools for bands and singers is the music video. Unfortunately, stations like MTV and VH-1 have changed their style a lot in recent years- it is becoming harder and harder for bands to get airtime with music videos. Although programs like TRL still show them, only mainstream music can find its home there (recent lawsuits with Sony even suggest that payola is the way to get a video on TRL).
For everyone who isn’t Ashlee Simpson or Kelly Clarkson, a music video on Myspace is a very wise marketing strategy. Luckily for Myspace users, all of the music videos on the site are free to view. When looking for a video, one should visit the site’s “Music” section, which is then broken down into subpages like “Music Videos”. Featured artists are prominently displayed on this page, as are featured videos. Despite the recent corporate buyout of Myspace.com, it still seems to be a fair playing field for new and independent bands.
Myspace Music Video Code
Not only are visitors allowed to view free music videos on Myspace, they are given an opportunity to add them to their profile page. With a simple HTML code, a music video can be placed anywhere on one’s page. The display for the videos is small and relatively low-bandwidth. However, more than one video on a profile page, in addition to many pictures can lead to slow downloading time. It is when many people on the site use up a lot of bandwidth that the entire site becomes so bogged down. (Design your profile page with consideration for others!) Myspace isn’t the only place to find music video codes for a profile page. A simple Google search can return many sites promising free codes. It is best to inspect these sites for legitimacy before using a code and especially before downloading anything. Many hackers and identity thieves are trying to take advantage of Myspace’s popularity.
