About The Jonas Brothers

Believe it or not, the story of The Jonas Brothers starts with an album by a 6 year old in 1995. Nick Jonas, the oldest of the three brothers, was discovered when someone heard him performing in a barbershop in his hometown of Wyckoff, New Jersey. This person hooked Nick up with a manager, who not only helped the youngster make an album, but also got him extensive work on Broadway, performing in plays such as Les Miserables, Annie Get Your Gun and Beauty and The Beast.

A hit single on Christian radio followed for Nick in 2005 (Joy to The World – A Christmas Prayer), which was followed by yet another hit, Dear God. In the meantime, younger brother Joe caught the acting bug and began appearing Broadway shows as well.

Eventually joined in show business by a third brother, Kevin, the boys began looking for a record deal. The head of Columbia Records liked Nick’s voice, but not his solo album. He decided to take a chance on the boys and in 2005, It’s About Time, the debut album by the Jonas Brothers was released.

The music on the album wasn’t exactly causing music fans to rush to the stores, but an ingenious marketing campaign did. Pretty soon, The Jonas Brothers were everywhere a tween frequents, from MTV’s Total Request Live to guest appearances on Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101. The boys’ carefully crafted image of 60s influenced British invasion bands created another selling point.

The tide really turned for The Jonas Brothers after appearing on Hannah Montana, when the band was propelled into overnight superstardom. A subsequent Disney Channel movie has only cemented their reputation as the new heart throb starts for the young teen set.
