The Band
Although Good Charlotte released a self-titled album in 2000, it wasn't until 2002's The Young and the Hopeless that the band burst into the public consciousness. The band's success was certainly helped by the soaring popularity of the first single from that album, "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous." Other hits include "The Anthem", "Girls and Boys", and "I Just Wanna Live". The band has been as successful around the world as it has been in its native U.S.
Brothers Joel and Benji Madden provide vocals and guitars for the group, while Billy Martin on guitar and keyboards, Paul Thomas on bass and Dean Butterworth on drums round out the band. Aaron Escolopio and Chris Wilson are former members of the band, part of a steady stream of drummers that have played with Good Charlotte. The band's sound has often dubbed "pop punk" and the overall image of the group fits a slightly punk and goth aesthetic. However, recent releases have moved the band in a new direction as its sound has matured.
