Jack White and Meg White of The White Stripes did a bang up job of harnessing media attention at the start of the career by fanning the flames of the great “brother and sister? husband or wife?” debate. They kept that media attention, however, by doing a bang up job of creating raw, bluesy, garage rock music unlike anything else out there at the time. There have been many pretenders since, but no one has managed to beat the masters at their own game and even come close to turning out the kind of musical mayhem Jack and Meg produce with just a guitar and a set of drums.
