About Christina Aguilera

Christina was born on December 18th, 1980 in Staten Island, NY. Her father was a Sargeant in the US Army and her mother was a Spanish teacher. She is of mixed ethnicity as her father was from Ecuador and her mother from Irish heritage. At the age of seven, Christina's parents divorced and she and her mother moved into Christina's grandparents house in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is rumored that Christina's father was an abusive parent and that this led to her parent's divorce.

Christina was always drawn to singing. She appeared on popular shows such as Star Search and Wake Up With Larry Richard. She began to perform at sporting events before finally becoming a member of the New Mickey Mouse Club in 1993. The show allowed Christina a chance to showcase her talent and she was a standout on the show.

Christina's big break came in 1998 when she was chosen to record the song "Reflections" for the Disney movie Mulan. The following year in August 24th, 1999 her first album was released. The self-titled album is still one of her best selling albums of all times and includes popular tracks "Genie In A Bottle," "Come On Over," and "What A Girl Wants." At the time of the album's release, critics compared her to pop rival and former New Mickey Mouse Club member Britney Spears.

The following year, Aguilera released Mi Reflejo. The album was not as large of a success but soon after Christina remade the "Lady Marmalade" single with pop artists Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink for the movie Moulin Rouge. The song was a popular hit. The following year Christina released Stripped. The album featured hit songs "Dirty" and "Beautiful." It was also at this time that she began to refer to herself as Xtina.

Since then, Christina has released several others albums and they have all been radio hits. She also married marketing executive Jordan Bratman and had a child in early 2008. The singer has also been nominated for several Grammy's (with a win for best new artist in 2000, best pop collaboration with vocals in 2002, best female pop vocal performance in 2004 and 2007). Sghe also has won a Latin Grammy. As of 2009, Christina was still working on a fourth album. The future just keeps getting brighter for Xtina.
