Early Ashley Tisdale Biography
Ashley Michelle Tisdale was born on July 2, 1985, in West Deal, New Jersey. Her parents are in the construction business, while her older sister Jennifer is an actor. Interestingly, her grandfather is the inventor of the Ginsu knives, and her cousin is infomercial guru Ron Popeil.
Ashley Tisdale was discovered in a shopping mall when she was only three years old. Her first gig was in a commercial for JC Penney, and she went on to be featured in over one hundred advertisements.
Tisdale truly began her singing and acting careers with musical theatre. She scored leading roles in her local Jewish Community Center's productions of Gypsy and The Sound of Music, and went on to play Young Cosette in Les Miserables. She also toured the country in a production of Annie.
Acting Roles
Ashley Tisdale soon moved on to small television parts in series such as:

The soundtrack for the first movie featured Tisdale on three tracks, in addition to the ensemble cast numbers. Two of the three songs, Bop to the Top and What I've Been Looking For, debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the same time, a first for any female artist.
Reprising her role for the next two installments of the High School Musical series, Tisdale appeared on the soundtracks for both films and toured internationally with the cast.

Headstrong went on to achieve gold status in the United States, with 500,000 copies sold.
Guilty Pleasure
Tisdale's follow-up album was released in July, 2009, called Guilty Pleasure. This record moves away from the straight up pop sounds that have defined Tisdale so far, tending towards a slightly grittier sound.
The first two singles from Guilty Pleasure are It's Alright, It's OK, and Crank It Up.
